Good price for the power you get.

MSI 14″ GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook

Quick review, I am not a laptop reviewer, but I can talk about it from a video editing angle.

  • I like the 14″ size, to me 15″ is just too big and 13″ you seem to lose a lot of power.
  • This one is packed with power for a good price
  • Great thing about B&H is I can just borrow stuff for 30 days and I only need this for a short time for speaking at a conference. The downside is I might fall in love with it and want to buy it
  • It is so much faster than my 3 year old laptop

, my old laptop can not play xavcs footage that well at all, not to mention editing with it.

  • This one can play 4k xavcs footage on a 1080 timeline just fine within Resolve, so I would guess it would work great with Premiere as well.
  • Resolve 14 does have better performance than 12.5, but is it 10x better?
  • Fan noise is there, but not as bad as other laptops I have reviewed in the past that were meant for gaming.

  • It has been a while since you switched to Resolve. What are your feelings now? What are your feelings about Resolve 14? I still use both Premiere and Resolve. I am very impressed with Resolve 14. I am considering buy the full version because of the noise reduction. Have you used it? How fast is it? I think a lot of us would like you to revisit the Resolve/ Premiere question. Gerry in Calgary

  • @Gerald it is still early but so far it is working really well! I have cut a few projects on 14 already. I will do a video about it in a few weeks.
