Panasonic GH4 Getting Started in Video
gh4

Are you interested in shooting video with your Panasonic GH4, but not sure where to start? This course will get you up to speed quickly. Get instant access and start watching now.

This is a beginner level course, and it is prerequisite for more advanced courses to come. This course covers the camera in great detail (everything video related in the manual and more), but it does not cover items sold separately from the camera, editing, rendering and photography features.

Follow along as I start fresh and reset all the menus as you follow along with me as I setup the GH4 camera for video shooting. The menus can be very confusing when it comes to focus modes, codecs, compression, frame rates, I step you through each one and demo how they work.

The manual for the GH4 has over 400 pages, but unfortunately Panasonic's manuals are biased towards photography and leave a lot to be desired when it comes to shooting video. This training course fills in those gaps and more. The true value of this course is saving you weeks if not months of time testing your camera to get the best results.

Who is the course for? People that have never owned a Panasonic mirrorless camera before, or people that have had their camera for a while but never shot video. Or, this course is great for people who have not tested all the different settings.

What if you own an older Panasonic GH camera like the GH3, will this course apply to your camera? Since the GH4 can do many things that the older cameras can not, I would recommend not buying the course to save you from being confused.

This course is based in the latest 2.0 firmware update.

Unsolicited Testimonials

"I just bought your GH4 course and I am so satisfied with it! It worth every penny, because you are covering every single part in the menu which was very, very important to me. In comparison I just bought another course on Vimeo for 99 bucks and it wasnt worth it. Your course is so detailed and there was no single open question when I finished it. And I rewatch it already (it's like you said, "maybe you have to watch it a few times to get all the buttons right")
While watching it…I could feel / imagine that you really dived into every single part of the hard and software. I am just looking forward to buy an Alpha a7S II and buy your course as well :)" - Benjamin

"I just wanted to say thanks for putting together such a comprehensive course on the GH4. I learned so much and feel much more confident about shooting with the camera now. I love your videos and I feel I have have learned so much from you over the years! Thanks again!" - Paul

"I am VERY happy with the course purchase (GH4). It has cleared up a lot of mystery for me that was very difficult or nearly impossible to decipher in the manual. This is worth the cost many times over." - Joseph

"Hey Dave. Just finished your GH4 Course. Just wanted to give you a massive thanks, I've had the camera for 2 months now (We use sony FS100 for our standard cameras) after lots of saving and although I watch all your regular videos I found the course very useful and will be handy as a reference in the future. I'm a wedding videographer and some of the things I learned through the course will be very useful indeed for quick turnarounds, the 180D setting itself will save me so much time on location." - Gareth

"Hi Dave, I bought your GH4 Tutorial...awesome !!!! Lowest learning cost I would say..beyond bang-4-the-buck. Keep up the good work yah... Thanks" - Surya

"This is a terrific course (GH4)!  Worth every cent.  Thank you.  If it wasn't un-American to suggest it, I'd say the course is so informative that it's purchase should be mandatory when you buy the camera." - Brendan

"I finally bit the bullet and replaced my 5d3 with a GH4. As you, and many others said, the image detail is so much better. I just completed your GH4 training course and you did a fantastic job." - Daniel

You take the time do explain everything very thoroughly without it getting boring, and you are good at giving reasons for doing as you do, and  like that a lot. It has for sure given me a lot more value to my GH4 already." - Ulf

"It was really great! I got my GH4 a few months ago, in part because of your recommendation, so I had gotten most of the basics down.

"I just purchased your GH4 course and I wanted to thank you for being so thorough. Even though I've been using my GH4 since May, I learned tons of new things that I feel like an idiot for not knowing earlier, most noteably the "Function" buttons and the AE/AF Lock for quick focusing. Invaluable tips for anyone with a GH4 and I will definitely pick up the next course for the GH4 if you happen to make one. I'm a long time fan and I have loved watching your progression into one of the leaders in the space." Jay

"I have been through several of the videos and have found your training course absolutely brilliant." - Gayleen

Covered/Not Covered

What is covered:

Only video related items.

How to set up your camera for video.

Basically everything in the manual that relates to video plus more info that the manual neglects to mention.

What is not covered:

Photography information such as exposure compensation, the flash unit, RAW image files, etc..

This course does not cover how to edit, render/export your files, this is mostly a prerequisite course for more advanced courses to come. This is for people that have never owned a mirrorless camera before or are interested in shooting video.

I will not cover items sold separately from the camera. For example, while I will cover all the ways you can focus in movie mode, I am not going to cover items sold separately like a follow focus and how to use them for video.

Specs in the back of the manual.
