13 Day turn around.

If you are interested to know what Tamron’s repair service is like check out this video of my experience. 13 day turn around didn’t seem to bad.

The rubber focus ring on my Tamron 24-70mm VC lens came loose.

Check out my review I did over a year ago when I purchased it.

  • That’s pretty good when you consider that shipping was probably 1-2 days both ways, it works out to about 4-5 working days for the repair.

    thanks for the info Dave

  • That’s a TON better than my experience with Canon. It takes 10 days to ship from and to Canon and then another week for them to fix the lens typically.

  • I had the same problem with the focusing ring and my zoom is coming off now as well. As a matter of fact I know at least three other guys who had the same problem with this lens. It is a great lens and optically it is lovely, but like you said, the build quality is just terrible. I wonder how long is that repair going to last before it comes off again.

  • I was very pleased with Tamron service. I have to send two lenses in the last 8 years. A 17-50 f2.8 and the 28-75 f2.8. Also about 10 days total.

    Having 6 years of warranty is a big plus for me as a professional photographer when I have to shop.

    Most of the Tamron users, don’t even know they have 6 years of warranty.

  • Hello dave. dave please help here. I am in a battle of deciding between this lens and the canon old 24-70. I see the quality of the lens in image quality it is really good, What i will like to know is about the build quality. We produce videos and take a lot of pictures and we need a lens that will hold the daily use. Is this as robust as the canon lens?

    Are you having any regrests about getting this one and not the canon lens?

    Please help em here i can not make my mind

    Thanks in advance

  • @Frank no regrets about this lens except that one issue. I really like it because of the VC for video.

    @Juan thanks for the link.

  • Guys I nearly had a heart attack a month ago when my 1-year old D7000 fell off my shoulder (strap broke) and landed on a hard surface. I just purchased my Tamron two months back. My lens now makes a rattling sound and leaves a dark vignette in the corners of images. Upon examining the lens, I discovered that an internal ring came loose. The box from the lens mentions a 6-year partial warranty but it doesn’t say anything about being idiot-proof. I want my perfect lens back but don’t want to get a new one. Is there any hope?
